Washington senior guard Sayvia Sellers has been selected to the 2026–27 Preseason All-Big Ten Team for the second year in a row, the university announced Oct. 1.

Washington Athletics said Sellers was one of 10 players chosen by Big Ten coaches and media. The selection is a preseason recognition, not a prediction of an in-season award or a team finish.

What Sellers did last season

Sellers started all 33 games for the Huskies in 2025–26 and led Washington with career highs of 18.0 points and 3.9 assists per game, according to the school. Washington said she was unanimously selected to the All-Big Ten First Team by the league’s coaches last season.

The school also said Sellers became the first player in Washington program history to be named USBWA National Player of the Week twice in the same season. Those accomplishments form the record behind the preseason selection, rather than a new statistical result.

Washington’s early-season calendar

The Huskies will open their 2026–27 season at home against UC San Diego on Nov. 2. Washington’s first Big Ten home game is scheduled for Dec. 5 against USC at Alaska Airlines Arena, according to the release.

Washington also cited its No. 17 placement in ESPN’s Way-Too-Early Top 25. A preseason ranking is context for the program entering the season; it does not establish an official tournament seed or future outcome.

A player-centered preseason marker

For Seattle basketball readers, the news is clear and source-backed: Sellers returns as a senior after a productive junior season and is again on the conference’s preseason list. The games that determine Washington’s final standing and Sellers’ eventual postseason honors have not yet been played.
