Washington has announced the signing of transfer guard Tayshawn Comer for the 2026–27 season, adding a player with a full season of starter-level production at Nevada.
The University of Washington says Comer started all 36 games for the Wolf Pack in 2025–26. The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 11.0 points and 3.6 assists per game while shooting 38.3% from the field, giving the Huskies a measurable recent sample rather than a role that must be projected.
The documented Nevada season
Comer scored in double figures in 11 of Nevada’s first 12 games, according to Washington’s announcement. His season high was 24 points, which he reached three times. The school also highlighted a January game against Wyoming in which he had 10 points and 10 assists.
The production followed a college path that began with two seasons at Eastern Kentucky, then continued at Evansville before his one season at Nevada. At Evansville, Washington says he led the program at 16.2 points per game and earned Second Team All-Missouri Valley recognition.
Why Sprinkle likes the fit
Head coach Danny Sprinkle described Comer as a guard who can get into the paint to create offense for himself and others. Sprinkle also pointed to Comer’s defense, pressure on opponents, leadership, effort and energy.
Those comments explain Washington’s interest, not a guaranteed rotation role. The release does not promise minutes, a starting spot or a particular statistical outcome in Seattle. It does report that Comer had already been watching practice, asking for film and communicating with teammates as he joined the program.
What is confirmed
The transaction is official and the prior production is documented: 36 Nevada starts, 11.0 points per game and 3.6 assists per game. What Comer’s arrival means for Washington’s final lineup and results remains a question for the 2026–27 season itself.
For now, the Huskies have added an experienced guard whose résumé spans Eastern Kentucky, Evansville and Nevada, with the most recent season providing the clearest statistical foundation for the move.
